Whenever my parents suggested going for fishhead steamboat, Hualong Fishhead Steamboat is always a popular choice that pops up. Having been in business for more than a decade, Hua Long Fishhead Steamboat is a typical Zi Char stall which is located on the void deck of Blk 347, Ang Mo Kio Ave 3. For those who don’t know here, it’s just opposite AMK Hub.
Started in 2013, Hualong Fishhead Steamboat is known for its signature dish, the Charcoal Fishhead Steamboat
We did our mum’s birthday dinner in Hualong Fishead Steamboat (华龙鱼头爐). It’s my first time eating Hualong, but my parents and sister had tried it several times with positive reviews. We called for a reservation for the 7:15 timeslot. When we reached, the coffee shop was already crowded with most of the tables taken. (Thank god we reserved!). The food took quite a while to arrive. We waited for almost 45 mins for it.
Charcoal Fishhead Steamboat
Hualong Fishead Steamboat definitely serves one of the best fishhead steamboats in Singapore. Customers can choose from either red grouper or pomfret fish and there are two soup bases, tomato flavored and the normal clear fishhead soup. Not a fan of tomato, we go for the clear fishhead soup.
The fish soup is rich and tasty – Not too salty and tasted just right. When tasting the soup, I noticed there is some mild milky taste to the soup base too. On top of that, there isn’t much MSG added. Good job Hualong!
Signature Wok-fried White Beehoon
The wok-fried white bee hoon is one of their signature dishes. I will recommend you not to order white rice but instead, order a large plate of their white bee hoon to try. Frankly speaking, I find their white bee hoon quite normal. Maybe some of you will prefer the Sembawang white bee hoon more. It will be better if they have some custom made chili sauce to go along!
Stir Fry Sambal Kang Kong
Their Kang Kong is well mixed with delicious Sambal chili sauce. A very typical Zi char dish which you can find elsewhere.
Crispy Golden Rolls
The waitress also recommended us this golden rolls dish. Basically, it is like Wu Xiang. Not bad.
Seafood Black Pepper Teppan Toufu
I love this black better teppan tofu and I will definitely this again on my next visit. Handmade fried tofu with prawns, fish, squid, green/red pepper, and black pepper sauce.
Stir Fry Green Dragon Vegetables with Bean Sprouts
Sauteed Venison with Black Pepper Hotplate
I don’t quite enjoy Venison, so I can’t objectively give this dish a thumbs up. But according to Nicole, this tasted pretty tasty if you asked her.

Summary
We spent around S$26 NETT each for our dinner. With this price, and comparing the quality of food, I would say it’s quite worthwhile. Next time if you are craving for charcoal fishhead steamboat, give Hualong a try. But remember to reserve in advance!
