Our Story
Hello, we are Derek and Nicole, the family behind ShinyVisa, a travel blog where we share our love for exploring the world. Our travels have taken us across Asia multiple times a year, and now, we’ve added a new little traveler to our adventures—our daughter Yuyi, born in 2022. Since she turned one, we’ve made it a priority to show her the beauty of the world by taking her on several trips each year. Seeing the world through her eyes has brought a whole new layer of joy to our adventures, and we’re excited to continue exploring as a family.
Our journey together started during our days at the National University of Singapore, where we met and bonded over our shared passion for travel. From classmates to travel companions, and eventually, husband and wife, it’s been an incredible adventure. Nicole is from the captivating “mountain city” of Chongqing, China, while I grew up in Singapore, and our diverse backgrounds give us a unique perspective on travel and life. We love sharing these experiences with each other, and now with Yuyi, as well as with our readers.
