From stroller friendly hotels to hotels with a quieter wing for early bedtimes to unvarnished pros and cons from an overnight-plus stay, we try to provide you with the same checklist we use when we book.
Whether it's bathtubs & steps & kid pools & how hotel staff treat families OR comparing chain consistency vs. independent boutiques, we find ourselves writing about these topics.
I stay at every hotel that I review here on ShinyVisa. Reviews are written by me after traveling with my family. I assess each hotel on criteria like room comfort, cleanliness, location, service etc. I also take into consideration how family friendly it is for traveling with a toddler.
I want to give you enough information to make an informed decision before booking a hotel room. That's why my hotel reviews are less promotional and more focused on giving you practical advice.
Most hotel reviews are not sponsored by the hotels. If my stay is sponsored by a hotel or if we have collaborated in some way, you will always find that mentioned in the post. I write all hotel reviews honestly after experiencing it firsthand.
I will always provide you with both positive and negative points about my stay so you can have a balanced and unbiased view of the hotel.
Remember that not every point in a hotel review will matter to you. Think about what's important during your stay; is it room size, convenient location, lot of noise etc.? If you're traveling with kids, do you prefer hotels with baby cots and bigger rooms to store all your luggage and strollers?
You'll benefit more from reading honest photos and personal observations than from star ratings alone.
Yes, in fact most of my hotel reviews are through the lens of traveling with a toddler. I try to include tips about accessibility with a stroller, room space, hotel amenities for kids, etc.
This also helps you understand if the hotel rooms and location are comfortable for families. But you'll find these tips helpful even if you aren't traveling with children.
I try to update my hotel reviews whenever I return to the same hotel or location. Since hotels improve (or get worse) with time, I want to keep my articles as helpful as possible.
If there are any significant changes to my stay, I will rewrite the hotel review to showcase my most recent visit.
I write about budget hotels, cheap hotels, mid-range hotels and luxury resorts. Just because a hotel is cheaper doesn't necessarily mean it will be better for your travel style.
I've had better experiences at $40 hotels than $100 hotels on occasion. The reviews will inform you about what to expect so you can pick the right hotel for your trip.
First create a shortlist of hotels you are considering. Think about what matters most to you. Is it a good location, room space and comfort or hotel amenities?
Read the hotel reviews to learn more about what it's actually like to stay there. You'll find factors like distance from the station, quick access to food options and how convenient the hotel is located for touring around.
Sure do! Many of my hotel reviews will link to booking tools so you can quickly find availability and compare prices. These links are affiliate links which means if you book using that link I may receive a small percentage of the sale.
This does not cost you any extra money but helps keep my blog independent and free!
Sure! If you have an upcoming trip and need advice on which hotel to book, let me know. I can't promise that I will be able to review your hotel or destination right away but I always keep reader requests in mind for future articles.
