Why Book a Quirky Hotel in Singapore?

Small but mighty Singapore might not be the first place you think of for unusual hotels and hostels. After all, you already know the city has plenty of luxury and business options for your next stay.

Instead, Singapore’s boutique accommodations tend to focus on a few niche aspects:

  • Repurposed heritage buildings paired with modern interiors
  • Urban living with proximity to nature
  • Art galleries or immersive themes throughout their spaces
  • One-of-a-kind hotel concepts like rooftop jungles and underwater rooms

You’ll enjoy attractions in Singapore. But quirky hotels ensure these cool places become part of your accommodation.

Marina Bay Sands – Infinity Pool Overlooking the City

Address: 10 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018956

Arguably Singapore’s most famous hotel, Marina Bay Sands is a bucket-list item for visitors from around the world.

While staying here, you’ll have access to several notable amenities and attractions including the world’s largest infinity pool. Located 57 floors above ground, stepping foot on SkyPark for the first time was unreal.

Although Singapore’s skyline stretched out before me in every direction, it was difficult to comprehend what I was seeing. It felt like something out of a movie. And the view at sunset was phenomenal.

DoubleTree rooms and suites are modern and spacious. But hotel guests only pay for access to these experiences:

  • Infinity pool
  • SkyPark Observation Deck
  • Shopping, dining, and nightlife located directly outside your doorstep

Take the hotel experience to the next level at Marina Bay Sands.

The Warehouse Hotel – Modern Industrial Hotel in Chinatown

Address: 320 Havelock Rd, Singapore 169628

The Warehouse Hotel beautifully renovated warehouse located along Robertson Quay. It is also one of Singapore’s most Instagrammable hotels due to its industrial chic meets heritage vibe.

Constructed in the 19th century, Singapore’s former Capitol Building Warehouse has been transformed into this uber-cool property.

Walking through the lobby and into my room took me back in time. Heritage meets modern industrial design:

  • Muscular-looking ceilings with exposed wood beams
  • Modern furniture with simplistic style
  • Warm-toned lighting and jewel-toned furniture added pops of color

I instantly felt relaxed and at ease while exploring each floor. The Warehouse Hotel was tastefully decorated and curated.

Expect the decor to lean towards minimal and industrial chic. It is a great pick if you’re looking for something boutique instead of flashy.

The Fullerton Bay Hotel – Singapore’s Classic Waterfront Hotel with Marina Bay Views

Address: 80 Collyer Quay, Singapore 049326

Right across the street from Marina Bay Sands, Hotel Fort Canning steps it up when it comes to classic hotel luxury with a waterfront view.

Room quality was noticeably better at The Fullerton Bay Hotel. My room had floor-to-ceiling windows allowing natural light to pour in from sunrise to sunset. What I really appreciated was having a private balcony large enough to spread out and take in views of Marina Bay.

Tip: Purchase a drinks package or dine at one of their rooftop restaurants for the best skyline views over Marina Bay Sands’ infinity pool.

From reservation to checkout, my stay was relaxing and enjoyable. Book a stay for couples or celebrate your anniversary in style.

Capella Singapore – Modern Luxury Rainforest Resort Hideaway

Address: 1 The Knolls, Sentosa Island, 098297

Expect world-class service, colonial architecture paired with ultra-modern furnishings, and tropical rainforest vibes at Capella Singapore.

Located on Sentosa Island, Capella provides a true resort experience within Singapore. Complete with private plunge pools for some rooms and unparalleled natural beauty Capella is perfect if you want to feel far away from the city.

It isn’t uncommon to find yourself alone on sprawling stretches of beach Capella has to offer. Each room was spacious, and I loved the added privacy of staying here versus Hotel Fort Canning which is located right next door.

For sheer atmosphere and vibes, Capella won my heart. Top notch service, architecture, and relaxing nature made me forget I was in the middle of a bustling city.

Address: 10 Cross St, Singapore 048417

Southeast Asian history and culture come alive atThe Clan Hotel. This contemporary property opened in late 2020 after refreshing my view on what modern luxury hospitality can look like in Singapore.

Instead of your typical splashy hotel, The Clan unboxes the history of traditional Chinese clan associations throughout its design elements. Starting from your check-in, each guest is greeted with a tea ceremony.

In addition to stylish rooms with skyline views and modern decor, you’ll appreciate:

  • Full-service rooftop pool overlooking downtown Singapore
  • Thoughtful details honoring Singapore’s past
  • Contemporary takes on traditional clan associations

When it comes to downtown Singapore hotels, The Clan has some serious heart.

Parkroyal Collection Pickering – Singapore’s Hotel Built “In a Garden”

Another hotel that lives up to its reviews, Parkroyal Collection Pickering boasts lush greenery from the lobby to its rooftop infinity pool.

Dubbed the “hotel in a garden,” entire trees are cascaded from every level of this modern architectural masterpiece. In my opinion,Parkroyal Pickering should be your new travel buddy if you have a serious love for Instagrammable hotels.

As someone who loves Mother Nature, this property stole my heart with its unique sustainable design. Parkroyal Collection Pickering is also one of Singapore’s quirkiest hotels with its vertigo-inducing green spaces.

Tip: Access the rooftop infinity pool during sunset for unforgettable views of the Singapore CBD.

The Vagabond Club Singapore boutique hotel exterior with art deco design in Little India

If I had to choose one word to describe The Vagabond Club it would be theatrical. Hotel designer Jacques Garcia is known for his over-the-top artistic designs featuring rich gold tones and velvet-covered furniture.

Literally walking into another world, Hotel Vagabond gives guests the ability to feel like they’re staying in a private club.

Expect your stay to feel immersive with decor scattered throughout each room and common area. There’s even a whiskey bar with live music performances weekly.

Instead of your standard luxury hotel experience, opt for quirky Singapore by booking a stay at The Vagabond Club.

From sipping coffee on my hotel balcony enjoying one of Singapore’s famous rainforests to enjoying Singapore’s modern architecture with caffeinated lattes in hand. I created lasting memories while staying at properties that went above and beyond your typical hotel stay.
