Singapore isn’t lacking when it comes to luxurious hotels. While Singapore features everything from Instagram-worthy views of the city skyline to private villas nestled deep within lush greenery, Singapore has become Asia’s secret hub for luxury accommodations without many even knowing it.

Yet with nightly prices that rival some of the other top global destinations like Paris and Tokyo, you have to ask yourself:

Is Luxury in Singapore Worth It?

To find out, I’ll review some of Singapore’s top luxury hotels based off personal experience and traveler reviews while diving into what makes each property so special. Marina Bay Sands Hotel Singapore

Singapore’s most iconic hotel is hard to miss. The Marina Bay Sands hotel offers guests the unforgettable experience of waking up (or going to sleep) next to an infinity pool that stretches across Singapore’s skyline.

After having stayed at nearly all of Singapore’s luxury hotels (it was for work, I swear… kind of), I can confidently say that Marina Bay Sands stands out from the rest, not only because of its jaw-dropping architecture but also because of its unique perks.

For starters, if you book a room on the hotel itself, you automatically get access to the SkyPark. The SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands is where you will find the infamous infinity pool. It features restaurants, bars, and seating areas with the best view in the house.

Needless to say, it feels surreal waking up here each morning and even more unreal to go to sleep while staring straight at the Singapore skyline at sunset.

Room-wise Marina Bay Sands offers modern accommodations that are clean and comfortable. They aren’t necessarily the most luxurious rooms on this list, but part of what you are paying for at MBS is the experience.

Is it worth it?

Yes, especially if this is your first time in Singapore. You are literally paying for the views and the experience and it is totally worth it.

Raffles Singapore

We start things off with Asia’s oldest luxury hotel. If colonial architecture and timeless elegance are more your style than modern skyscrapers, Raffles Singapore should be at the top of your list.

The second-largest property on this list is nothing short of magical. The Raffles Hotel in Singapore gives guests an experience unlike any other thanks to its history, impeccable service, and attention to detail.

Completed in 1887, guests can stroll the hallways and almost feel like they have stepped back in time. White buildings, manicured gardens, and grandiose suites transport you to a past where every stay at the Raffles was an adventure.

Rooms at the Raffles Hotel are also suites, guaranteeing you space and privacy. While this hotel may not offer the unique “WOW” factor that modern hotels may provide, there is something to be said about staying at a historic location that started it all.

Their Singapore Sling cocktail served at the Long Bar is still one of the best stories I’ve heard while traveling.

Is it worth it?

I love hotels with rich history, and this place has it all. If that’s your jam as well then yes it’s 100% worth it.

Capella Singapore

Singapore is known for its huge hotels but the Capella brings luxury to a different level.

Built on Sentosa Island and hidden among the thick rainforest, you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to a private island the second you check-in. This place is designed for privacy and feels worlds away from the city.

If privacy is what you’re after, then Capella Singapore has got you covered. The hotel features private villas with amenities such as private pools, making this one of the best places to stay in Singapore with family or your significant other.

Capella may be one of the harder hotels to get to since you have to take a short airport style tram from one of Singapore’s main shopping centers to the resort itself. But once you arrive, you’ll feel as if you’ve entered your own private island resort.

This is probably Singapore’s most expensive hotel for good reason. Each room and villa feels insanely private and there’s no other hotel quite like it.

Is it worth it?

Yep. If privacy is something you value, then yes.

The Fullerton Bay Hotel

This is one of my favorite hotels in Singapore for its waterfront views and straightforward luxury. There’s nothing super fancy about this hotel, but that’s why I love it.

The Fullerton Bay provides guests with top-notch service and modern rooms overlooking Marina Bay. If you want that luxurious hotel experience without being too over the top, then The Fullerton Bay has got you covered.

Compared to MBS this hotel gives you a much more intimate feel. My favorite part of the hotel was the Lantern rooftop bar. At night this place comes alive and you can sip your drinks while watching the city lights twinkle all around you.

Is it worth it?

Yes, if you’re looking to skip out on the crowds at MBS this is another great option. I would recommend this for couples as well as business travelers.

The St. Regis Singapore

I absolutely adore luxury hotel chains with butler service and The St. Regis Singapore checks all of the boxes. Marble bathrooms, grand chandeliers, and service that rivals Raffles are what you can expect when staying here.

Each room features the brand’s signature Butler service. From unpacking your luggage to serving you afternoon tea in your room, every aspect of the St. Regis makes you feel like royalty.

If colonial style isn’t really your thing, then this hotel might be more up your ally. European inspired decor and modern touches are everywhere at The St. Regis.

Room-wise they are on the smaller side compared to others on this list, but with service like this who cares? !

Is it worth it?

Yes! If you’re the type of traveler who values service and tradition more than modern decor, then this is the place for you.

Shangri-La Singapore

Last but not least is Singapore’s best resort-style hotel located right in the middle of the city. The Shangri-La may be my personal favorite because it was my home away from home during my time in Singapore.

Unlike most other luxury hotels in Singapore, the Shangri-La features expansive gardens that surround the entire hotel. It gives you a sense of peace that you rarely find in the hustle and bustle of Singapore.

Another bonus of this hotel is that they have some of the best amenities for families. My wife and I had a blast taking our son to the butterfly garden and there are even play areas for kids throughout the hotel.

Rooms here are spacious as well so if you’re looking for somewhere to relax during your stay in Singapore, Shangri-La is where it’s at.

Is it worth it?

Yes, great for families or if you’re staying in Singapore for an extended period.

Final Thoughts: Is Luxury in Singapore Worth It?

TLDR; Yes and no. Singapore luxury hotels are worth it if:

• You’re celebrating
• You plan on spending time at the hotel
• You love service
• You want an experience you’ll remember forever

Don’t book luxury in Singapore if:

• You don’t plan on spending time at the hotel
• You’re trying to cut costs

Bang for your buck? Maybe not. But if you’re looking for a unique experience with some of the best service in the world, then Singapore luxury hotels are for you.

For me, personally, I would recommend doing one night in a luxury hotel vs trying to stretch your dollar. Singapore has so many hotels that picking one for a night will allow you to experience what luxury is really like in Singapore without breaking the bank.
