Searching for a hotel in Paris? Hôtel De Neuve by HappyCulture often comes up.
The hotel’s location is in Paris’s 4th arrondissement (Le Marais), it has authentic French interiors, and relatively low price point for Parisian standards makes it seem like a great romantic option.
We recently stayed there and booked for about €280/night. Here’s my review of Hôtel De Neuve by HappyCulture

Here’s my quick take
Location: Amazing if you’re looking to stay in Le Marais.
Interior Design: Cute, traditional French vibes.
Room size: Small, even by European standards.
Personal Opinion: Would I stay again? Maybe, depending on the situation.
Location: Right in the Heart of Le Marais
First up, the best part.
This hotel is located in Le Marais, which is French for “the best”.
Okay, but seriously. It’s located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, which has some of the best boutique shopping, cafés, bakeries, and architecture in Paris.
Things you are steps away from:
- Trendy boutiques.
- Concept shops.
- Amazing bakeries & pastry shops.
- Great wine bars.
- Good falafel & French restaurants.
- …and more.
Plus, you can walk to:
- Place des Vosges.
- Hôtel de Ville.
- The Seine.
- Notre-Dame.
Metro stations are close too. But honestly, I walked everywhere most of the time I was here.
If you’re looking for a hotel in the perfect location. This is it.
Location rating: 9.5/10
Hotel vibes. Love at first sight.
Yep. As soon as I walked in, I knew.
This hotel is going for classic French aesthetics.
- Toile de Jouy wallpaper.
- Soft blues and creams.
- Warm gold accents.
- Classic moldings.
- Warm lighting.
The lobby gives off boutique charm while still feeling kind of upscale.

You’ll see built-in shelving with decorative books and plants, brass light fixtures, small café tables, and herringbone floors. Cozy. Not modern and sparse.
It has that “I’m in a cute Parisian boutique hotel” feel you’re going for when you visit Paris.
If French style interiors are your thing, this hotel nails it.
Room Style: Beautiful. But Also. Really Small.
Okay, now for the room.
Look, I get it. Hotels in Europe are gonna be smaller than what we’re used to in the States. I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels in Paris.
But holy crap is this room tiny.

Paris hotel rooms are usually anywhere from decent size to really cozy.
This one was on the tiny side even compared to other Paris hotels.
Design-wise? It’s beautiful.
- Soft blue accents along the walls.
- Toile wallpaper on one wall.
- Simple wooden headboard.
- Clean white linens.
- Throw pillows!
- Brass desk lamps on the bedside tables.

It looks great. Instagram worthy, even!
But functionally? It’s another story.
The issue? You cannot open two large suitcases at once.
There simply isn’t enough space on the floor. If you and your partner are traveling with 2 medium/large suitcases, you’ll both have to take turns unpacking.
Even walking around the bed is tight. Once you put your luggage down, you have to shuffle around to get anywhere.
It could work if you’re solo or a couple traveling with just carry-ons. But if you’re staying for more than 3-4 nights with larger suitcases, it will feel really tight really fast.
Room comfort: 6/10
Room Storage/Usability
Speaking of luggage. Storage is very minimal.
Small wardrobe. Small space to spread out your things.
If you like to unpack and settle into your hotel room when you travel, you’ll feel a little annoyed here.
The bathroom was small too, but again. Clean. And it follows that typical Parisian boutique hotel bathroom layout.
Tiny, but cute.
Overall, don’t stay here thinking the rooms are big. You aren’t.
HappyCulture Brand Bonus: Kind of Meh This Time
One thing I liked about HappyCulture hotels in the past were the tiny extra bonuses.
Previous HappyCulture hotels I stayed at had cute perks like:
- Snacks
- Free sparkling water
- Spacious common areas
When I first walked into Hotel De Neuve’s common tea area, I thought to myself:
“Hmm. That’s pretty small.”
It was more of a “grab your tea and get back out onto the street” tiny lobby area. Not a “sit back and relax in this luxurious lounge” type of vibe.
They also didn’t offer complimentary sparkling water during my stay. Seemed like a small thing, but when you’re spending €10 on water every night in Paris, that free perk starts to matter.
Compared to another HappyCulture property I stayed at earlier during this trip, this hotel felt lacking in amenities.
Amenities: 6.5/10
Noise Levels & Sleep Quality
To be honest, the street isn’t too bad. It’s definitely quieter than if you stay on a main Paris boulevard.
We didn’t have any serious noise complaints at night.
Bed comfort was decent too.
Good support. Sheets felt crisp and clean.
Tiny room aside, the bed was comfortable.
Well, comfortable for a hotel room.
Paris may be the land of hospitality, but smaller rooms means less room for luxurious bedding and bedding updates.
If you need super plush rooms to sleep, you may find this hotel a bit to cozy.
Would I Pay This Price to Stay Here? Verdicts
The hotel rang in around €280/night.
Hotel prices in Paris can range from pretty low to absolutely insane. They can also range depending on location and how fancy the hotel is.
Is it worth that €280 price tag?
Here’s my breakdown.
What you are paying for:
- Centrally located in Le Marais.
- Authentic French design.
- How walkable it is.
- Pure aesthetics.
What you’re not paying for:
- Room space.
- Hotel amenities.
- Large hotel lounge.
- Hotel extras.
If you plan on being out and about in Paris all day, coming back to the hotel to sleep, and leaving to start your day again, you probably won’t care as much about the size.
If you plan on spending a lot of time in your room, working remotely, or unpacking your bags (hello larger luggage), this might bother you.

Yes, if I was traveling super light for a short stay and wanted to be steps away from the heart of Le Marais.
No, if I was staying for more than a few nights or had large luggage.

Hôtel De Neuve by HappyCulture offers great location and authentically cute interiors. It falls a little short when it comes to room size and extras.
But if style > space. You’ll love it.
