Visiting Da Nang, you’re bound to stumble upon crowds shuffling in line at local eateries. Even some of the Michelin restaurants around town like Ăn Thôi are often out-of-control busy.
That’s what we thought too… until we saw how long THAT line was.
Rather than waiting around all afternoon, we explored the neighboring options nearby, and honestly, that’s where we discovered our favorite meal of the trip.
Say hello to Bếp Lụa Vietnamese Restaurant. Cozy. Quaint. Super-local—but in a good way. Really exceeded expectations.

Restaurant ambience: Casual but artsy as hell
I don’t want to ruin it for you, but from the outside, you know you’re in for something good.
Red lanterns dot the restaurant entrance, with hues reminiscent of nearby Hoi An. Stepping inside transports you into a beautiful hybrid of a homey Vietnamese restaurant… and a curated coffee shop.

Expect the interior to feel:
- Warm
- Inviting
- Unexpectedly stylish
Complete with:
- Yellow walls
- Wooden furniture
- Floating lanterns providing a warm glow
- Spacious table settings spanning multiple floors
Immediately, we felt like it hit that sweet spot of being tourist-friendly yet authentically Vietnamese—you know tourism food traps sometimes fail at.
Food & Drinks We Ordered
We ended up ordering enough food for 4 people and spent less than S$55 for the entire meal. Considering quality, quantity, and options, it was honestly great value for money.
Check out everything we tried below.
Vietnamese Crispy Pork

Safe choice. Reminded me instantly of Thai crispy pork.
Thin sliced pork belly served with crackling skin on top, along with a light sauce and fresh cucumbers and herbs on the side.
The sauce was light. The herbs fresh. The pork crackling crispy without being oily.
Don’t come here for mind-blowing creativity but come here for “safe and tasty” picks that you know you’ll enjoy.
Cheese Baked Oysters

For some reason, this dish blew me away.
Fresh oysters:
- Slathered with a creamy cheese sauce
- Grilled on the top to give it that nice golden texture
- Warm and juicy throughout
All of this for a VERY reasonable price. Compared to Singapore, seafood here really is a steal.
The flavor’s definitely on the richer side—not overly sweet. Order this if you like your cheese with your seafood.
Garlic Butter Shrimp + Vietnamese Baguette

MY FAVORITE DISH OF THE NIGHT. Hands down.
Garlic butter prawns that were HUGE and cooked to perfection. Sweet, juicy, and full of flavor but not overpowering.
Yet. Hold up. The part I think you’re going to love more than the shrimp is the Vietnamese bread.
Yep. That BÁNH MÌ that came with the shrimp was insanely good.
We basically used it to soak up all that leftover garlic butter sauce. And that, my friends, was reason enough to order this dish.
Order it. Trust me.
Scallops with Garlic & Peanuts

It was okay.
Fresh Vietnamese scallops topped with garlic, peanuts, and herbs. The mixture on top gave the scallops a nice crunch and fragrance, but here’s my problem with the dish.
I felt like:
The scallops themselves lacked texture/slightly soggy
The flavors were too “heavy” for my personal preference
That’s not to say you won’t love it. If you’re a peanut-dessert type of person, you may like this more than I did.
Vietnamese Pho

Vietnamese pho that hits the spot.
The broth was flavorful without being oily. Noodles were soft. And vegetables on top added a fresh pop of flavor.
Standard stuff. Nothing revolutionary but definitely worth a try if you’re craving some authentic Vietnamese comfort food.
Passion Fruit Drinks

Passion fruit is one of those fruits you either love or hate.
I LOVED IT.
They had passion fruit drinks available and boy were they tasty.
Sweet. Tangy. Super refreshing. Reminded me a lot of Vietnam.
Order some drinks to complete the meal if you’re a fan of passion fruit.
Bếp Lụa Vietnamese Restaurant: Overall Verdict
What I loved about Bếp Lụa was the combo.
Yes the food was great. Yes the ambience was pretty nice. But what I really liked was:
- Modern, chill vibes
- Wide selection of different Vietnamese options
- Reasonable pricing (major points for seafood)
- Didn’t feel like we waited around for ages for our food
Versus standing in line for HOURS at a restaurant with better reviews, Bếp Lụa felt like the smart “traveler” choice.
Who is Bếp Lụa Vietnamese Restaurant Ideal for?
Totally ideal if you’re something looking for:
- Family travel (wide seats, suitable for kids)
- Standard vietnamese restaurant food with no lineup
- Visitors who enjoy casual restaurants with vietnamese local foods
Who it may not work for:
- If you’re looking for hole-in-the-wall street food vibe
- Don’t like spending slightly more on food

Final Thoughts
Should you skip the line at that popular Michelin guide restaurant across the street for Bếp Lụa?
Yes. Absolutely.
Don’t be mad at me later. You’ll thank me.
Unlike some restaurants that have one standout dish or another, Bếp Lụa excels from top to bottom. The atmosphere hits that “curated but not trying too hard” sweet spot. The food is approachable but delicious. Nothing about the meal feels forced. You walk in off the street, are seated, order a few dishes (of what amounts to perfectly cooked Vietnamese cuisine), eat at a leisurely pace, and walk away happy and full.
Amidst a city that can get caught up in the next-biggest thing (I’m guilty of it too), Bếp Lụa reminds me there’s amazing food outside of hype.
