VIE Hotel Bangkok – MGallery Collection Review

We ended our recent trip to Bangkok with a one-night stay at the VIE Hotel Bangkok – MGallery Collection, and I’m so glad we did. The VIE was a nice place to end our stay on a high note (literally), and it was a free stay for us thanks to a credit card reward redemption.

We got a nice taste of luxury and pampering (perks that came with the credit card rewards) at no additional cost. VIE managed to give us a sense of elegance, serenity, and luxury at a central Bangkok location, which was the perfect way to wind down after a jam-packed itinerary.

Here’s what we experienced during our one night at VIE Hotel Bangkok.

Complimentary Upgrade & Late Checkout

Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a suite and were given complimentary late checkout. Honestly, I did a little online sleuthing beforehand, and one of the forums I checked said that suite upgrades at this hotel were “commonplace” for Accor loyalty members (you have to have Silver status or above to get an upgrade) or credit card reward users who book through a premium portal. I knew an upgrade was on the table so I wasn’t shocked when the front desk lady gave me that upgraded room key, but it was still quite nice.

That said, the front desk team was courteous and professional. The gentleman behind the desk confirmed the upgrade with a smile before he detailed the hotel’s facilities and amenities.

The late checkout really helped us make the most out of our last day. We didn’t have to rush around, move our luggage to the lobby, and start everything over before our late evening flight. Instead, we had extra time in the room to freshen up, recharge, and bid farewell to Bangkok.

Deluxe Suite Room Review: Luxurious, Spacious, and Elegant

The deluxe suite room was nice and spacious, with a minimalist, clean look accented with Thai influences. The hardwood flooring, warm lighting, and deep furniture and upholstery gave it a warm, cozy atmosphere that was at once elegant and laid-back. There was a dedicated living area, a king-sized bed, and floor-to-ceiling windows with soft, natural lighting and city views.

The bathroom was a nice surprise, with:

  • A spacious bathtub
  • A walk-in rain shower
  • Fine toiletries
  • Robes and slippers

I like how the suite was designed to make you feel super comfortable. We enjoyed the last few hours in Bangkok whether we were on the couch, having a coffee and sharing our thoughts over the day or soaking in the tub.

Location: Great for Visiting Central Bangkok Attractions

One of the reasons I chose VIE Hotel is its location. It’s located in central Bangkok and is within walking distance to the following:

  • Ratchathewi BTS Station – a few steps away
  • Siam Paragon, MBK, and Siam Center – 10 to 15 minutes
  • Jim Thompson House – a short walk

If you’re in Bangkok for shopping, food, or sightseeing, you won’t need to take a taxi or Grab that much. Just take the BTS to other parts of the city.

Our last night, we took full advantage of the location to do some last-minute shopping and makan at Siam Paragon before heading back to the hotel suite.

Breakfast & Dining

We did not include breakfast and dining, but we’ve read from other reviewers that the hotel has a good breakfast buffet spread. Guests are treated to a selection of Thai and international cuisines, freshly brewed coffee, and a relaxing ambiance. Breakfast is probably worth checking out if you’re here for more than one night or if you like to have a slow morning.

The hotel also houses La VIE Bistronomy, a high-end restaurant known for its fine dining experience and specially curated tasting menus. We didn’t get to try the restaurant this time, but it does add to VIE Hotel’s value for couples or travelers who are big on food.

Facilities & Amenities

We didn’t have a lot of time to explore the property, but we got to check out some of the facilities and amenities:

  • Swimming Pool: A well-designed, partially covered, and very chic outdoor pool. The atmosphere was laid-back and relaxing.
  • Fitness Center: Well-equipped with some modern gear. It also has a yoga studio.
  • VIE Spa by Organika: Popular with guests and known for its luxury spa treatments. We didn’t get to check it out but the ambiance was quite serene.
  • The property seems to cater to leisure and business travelers who like a little indulgence in their trips.

The Con: Inconsistent Wi-Fi

The only thing I didn’t like was the Wi-Fi connection. I don’t know why but the internet connection was…spotty? This is a pretty high-end hotel, so I was surprised at how slow it was. I expected it to be faster and more reliable, especially in the suite. It wasn’t unusable, but I did experience some signal drop and slow page loads.

It might be fine if you just want to send a few text messages and check maps or emails. But if you’re streaming videos or need bandwidth-intensive services, you may experience a slight…irritation.

Final Thoughts

A one-night stay at VIE Hotel Bangkok – MGallery Collection was an excellent way to end our time in Bangkok. The location and the complimentary suite upgrade and late checkout made it an affordable luxury, relaxing, and romantic hotel at the end of our stay.

The VIE is a solid choice for travelers looking for a wallet-friendly luxury hotel, a romantic Bangkok hotel for couples, or a nicely located hotel with some decent facilities and amenities. I’d be happy to check it out again when we come back to Bangkok. The only gripe was the Wi-Fi connection, but it’s nothing a cup of coffee and a smile can’t fix.

Overall Ratings: 4.8/5

VIE Hotel Bangkok exceeded our expectations in all the best ways. The easy suite upgrade, late checkout, spacious, well-designed room and unbeatable location steps from the BTS all added up to a rare sense of quiet luxury in the heart of the city. We wish the Wi-Fi were better but service, design and value in every other way were on point.

Looking for a sophisticated Bangkok hotel that offers great value? VIE provides a high-end experience that won’t feel stuffy or overdone. It’s the kind of place you want to return to after a long day of exploring the city.

Would we stay again? You bet. Especially if we get another upgrade to the suite!
