Our MacRitichie Hike
My last visit to MacRitchie Reservoir Park is in year 2014 where I had a morning jog session with my close friends. Back then, I am around 10kgs lighter than now. As an attempt to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle, Nicole and I decided to spend our sunday afternoon hiking in MacRitchie Reservoir Park. We took bus 132 and alighted at the Mt Alvernia Hosp bus stop. After alighting, you have to cross the overhead bridge to get to the entrance of MacRitchie Reservoir Park. After re-filling our water bottles at the water coolers near Mushroom Cafe, we embarked on our hiking adventure! There are lockers in the toilets near Mushroom Cafe, so if you would like to deposit your valuables or belongings in the lockers, you can do so. Furthermore, there are showering rooms in the toilets too.
Here is the path of our overall hike trail – blue line. We spent a total of 2 hours.
We saw quite a number of tourists during our hike and we are pretty surprised that MacRitchie Reservoir Park is a choice of attraction for tourists too.
This is the first photo Nicole took while waiting for me to refill our water. As you can see, the weather is blazing hot. We also had sunblock applied as well.
Some of the beautiful scenes we encountered during our hike.
Halfway through our hike we met an overseas couple (probably from France) while resting in one of the huts. The guy was carrying his son (around 1 year old) who was sleeping so soundly and his wife was carrying a child carrier. He was asking us how long it will take to complete the whole trail from the hut. I can see they were pretty shagged carrying the child.
We had a few encounters with wildlife too. Monitor lizards, macaque monkeys and squirrels..
Here is a close up photo of a monitor lizard coming to shore. We were just in front of it.
Check it out in live action below
Along the way we also saw a number of macaque monkeys. They were either playing around on the trees along the path or hanging around on the fences. They are not even scared of people!
Initially we wanted to visit the popular Tree Top Walk to take some photos but we are too tired to continue the hike and the sky’s getting dark. In the end we decided to move on and end our sunday’s hike exiting at Venus Drive.
