Capri by Fraser Changi City Review: Perfect Hotel For Business Travelers

Recently, Derek and I went for a staycation in Capri by Fraser in Changi City Point. Yes, as you guess it, it is a hotel residence near the Expo MRT which is just one MRT stop from Changi airport.  This has been a very popular choice for travelers who need to go to airport timely or business travelers who are on a business trip in Changi Business Park.

We booked the last minute deal for around $350 SGD on the day via booking.com and the price was slightly higher than reserving in advance as expected. As booking.com only asked for one traveler’s name for the room, Derek mentioned in the booking special request with my name and identification number on it that I will be checking in first. Unluckily when I arrived there, the receptionist was not able to find the request and thus did not allow me to check-in. It was until 30 mins later when I had to show them the screenshot of the special request that they finally allowed me to check-in. It was not a good first impression definitely. Actually, the next day when we checked out, we also waited for around 15mins to claim back the deposit. We are really ‘surprised’ at the efficiency.

Nevertheless, the room is generally not bad particularly space wise. 35 sm is relatively large in Singapore where most rooms are only measures around 15 sm with this price range.

The Studio Superior room is essentially a service apartment where a small kitchen is available the moment you enter the room. On the right side, you can find the wardrobe connecting to the bathroom.

The bathroom is quite huge with a bathtub inside too. Open the sliding door, a big bed will come to sight. The living room is connected to the bedroom with french windows through which you can see some busy streets.

There is also a long and clean table good for study and work.

After checking in, we went around the hotel to explore the facilities a little bit more. The Spa, fitness centre and swimming pool are all available on level 2.

We did not book a room with breakfast included from Capri, as Changi City Point is just nearby and there are a lot of restaurants and shops you can find in the mall.

Summary

Location wise, I do feel Capri is a great choice for the business travelers. Located near to the airport, transit passengers may also find it really convenient too. The spacious room adds a good point to the hotel, however as mentioned previously I am not quite pleased with the customer service level. Reception is the first and last impression of the hotel, and I expect the reception service to be better and more friendly too.
