I saw XO Minced Pork Noodle (XO 肉脞面) while I am wandering around Newton Cirus, pondering hard on what I should eat for lunch. At first glance, XO Minced Pork Noodle caught my attention because it seems to be quite popular among people. Well, when you eat at food centres, always remember this simple rule. Longer Queue == Better Food Quality.
So why called XO? According to the boss, their chewy noodles are mixed with their signature chilli sauce & XO sauce to create a superior taste that garners lots of praises and love from their customers! For those who don’t know, XO Minced Pork Noodle is actually under Yu Kee, which is well known for their braised duck rice.
“Yu Kee” was coined by combining the patriarch’s Chinese name “You” (“友”) and “Ji” (“記”)
They have a variety of noodle dishes. You can choose from XO Minced Pork Noodle, Handmade Meatball Noodle, Fishball Noodle, Fishball Soup, Mini Work Noodle, Chicken Laksa… After contemplating long on what to order, I settled down with their signature XO Minced Pork Noodle and a plate of Fried Handmade Meatballs. Their fried pork balls seem to be a very popular choice among customers.
XO Minced Pork Noodle (Mee Pork, Spicy) – S$4.50
The noodles are springy and their chilli xo sauce tastes quite unique. I feel that it may, however, be a little sweet for some people. Together with the noodles, there are minced pork, lean pork meat, one pork ball, fish cake, lettuce and more. All is good, but they are missing the crispy fried pork lard though!
The noodles also come with a bowl of soup. You can always ask for a bigger bowl of soup if you like. (I did)
Fried Handmade Meatballs – S$5.00
These meatballs with it if you order the Handmade Meatball Noodle. I ordered it separately to try it out. The balls are deep fried till golden crispy colour and the meat inside is fresh, tender and well seasoned. The meatballs taste good, I will definitely recommend you to try it out.

Personally, I feel that XO Minced Pork Noodle is quite average. The noodles taste good, but I feel that it may be not worth the trip to travel all the way down just to eat their XO Minced Pork Noodle. It needs more eye-catching and wow factor.
