Here is a comprehensive review of the most attractive small Switzerland towns you must visit in your next trip!

Lungern

Location: a station between Lucerne and Interlaken, a live small town named after the Lungern Lake
Plus:

  1. super tranquil, crystal jade like Lungern lake
  2. little commercialisation
  3. true to the nature

Minus: too few shops, nothing for tourists nearby
Recommendation: 2 hours

Wengen

Location: a station visitors will definitely pass by if going to Jungfraujoch, accommodate most visitors as a transit place
Plus:

  1. tranquil, native and typical Swiss town at the foot of Alps
  2. proper commercialisation with acceptable price
  3. very near to the Jungfraujoch, enjoy great view from most of the hotels
  4. convenient transportation, accessible via railway/cable car

Minus: too small town, not many shops
Recommendation: one day

Llautebrunen

Location: a station visitors will definitely pass by if going to Wengen, famous for the great number of waterfalls inside the town
Plus:

  1. town of waterfall
  2. proper commercialization
  3. convenient transportation

Minus: depends on the season and the angle, visitors may not always catch the amazing view of waterfalls
Recommendation: 1 hours

Grindewald

Location: a station visitors will definitely pass by if going to Jungfraujoch, famous as a tourism town surrounded by greenish mountains and hills typical of Switzerland
Plus:

  1. centralised tourists attractions, many fun places nearby, e.g. First, Eiger
  2. super commercialisation, comprehensive tourism facilities and shops

Minus: high cost for everything
Recommendation: 1-2 days

Location: a station between Interlaken and Berne, just by the Thun Lake, a great summer resort for locals, accessible by boat too
Plus:

  1. One of the most beautiful towns in Switzerland near the Thun Lake
  2. little commercialisation

Minus: few restaurants or hotels
Recommendation: 2 hours

Zermatt

Location: a station visitors must pass by if going to Matterhorn, very famous attraction for winter worldwide, but summer also got a differently amazing view
Plus:

  1. very near to the Matterhorn, enjoy great view from most of the hotels
  2. super commercialisation, comprehensive tourism facilities and shops
  3. car-free, eco-friendly
  4. ski resorts

Minus: a bit far from other famous attractions in Switzerland
