Gudetama Cafe, which is originated from Japan, has stepped its foot in Suntec City in Singapore since last year. I am not a fan of this “lazy egg looking” Sanrio character, but after seeing many Instagram posts on this cafe, we decided to give it a try. Though having some reservations on the food quality as most character cafe serves meh food, we hope we won’t be disappointed.

We reached the cafe around 1:30 PM for brunch. Gudetama Cafe is located in Suntec City which is just a few minutes walk from Esplanade MRT. Fortunately, there was no queue when we arrived. At the entrance, you will receive a warm welcome by the cute Gudetama. Make sure to take a photo with it!

I am quite impressed by the interior design in Gudetama Cafe. Thumb up for it! We are guided to our table shortly after we arrived. In Gudetama Cafe, you can see cute egg shaped table & chairs all around. At the downside, the table seems to be quite small though. You can find a wet tissue dispenser and a basket of free hard boiled eggs on the table. Our table is missing the basket of eggs and the staff didn’t really bother to provide us with one. 🙁

Complimentary ice water was served while we were browsing the menu. One thing I like about character themed cafe is that everything is customized according to the character.

Ice Tea Cooler (Hula Hula), Matcha

Eggcited Cajun Chicken with Waffles

We were disappointed with this dish. The Cajun chicken is over grilled and it tasted bland. The dish is just overly normal and overpriced.

Big “NUA” Breakfast

Another very normal English breakfast set with baked beans, toast, salad, pan fried mushrooms, two sunny side-up eggs, bacon and a pork bratwurst. The salad seasoning is too overwhelming which makes my toast taste extremely sour. The eggs, however, are well cooked and delicious.

For me, I would say it’s not quite worth its price. You can find better breakfast set elsewhere at this price.

Truffle Fries in a Cone

I think this is the best dish we ordered and it is a side dish. I enjoyed their truffle fries. The fries are well fried with rich truffle and cheesy taste. We couldn’t finish it all and had to take away.

Though Gudetama serves average food which is super overpriced, the ambience did not disappoint us at all.

Look at the Gudetama pillows below! How frequent can you see tables in cafes that come with cute looking pillow?

For your information, Gudetama Cafe also sells dessert cakes and it looks quite elegantly made.

If you are a hardcore Gudetama fan, you can shop for some merchandise as well.

Gudetama Cafe is a cafe that we probably will only visit once (for photo-taking) and not revisit again. The food is just really too average and extremely overpriced. The customer service is not up to expectation as well. The staff mixed up our order with another table at the start. During payment, they charged our credit card wrongly for another table. This is utterly disappointing. I do hope the management take some constructive feedbacks and make some improvement.
