Update: I visited Bao Today @ Marina Square again on 1st April 2017 to review more dishes.
包今天 sounds like 包青天? Yes, the store name is a cheesy adaptation from the Legendary Justice Judge from the Song Dynasty in China. In fact, I pretty like the concept on how they came out with the name. It’s innovative! And maybe it will be better if they have a cute Judge Bao mascot eating dim sum too? Located in Marina Square, Bao Today is a Chinese dim sum shop which the smell of their dim sum always caught my nose’s attention every time I walked past it.

As we were still pretty full after our heavy lunch, we decided to eat something “light” for dinner. I thought Bao Today is a pretty good choice for us as we were near Marina Square. Fortunately, there was no queue when we reached. We quickly got ourselves seated at the outside area and it didn’t take long for the food to arrive after we placed the orders.
The menu in Bao Today is quite comprehensive. You can find dishes from Dim Sum to Noodles and even curry chicken with rice or mantou.
Chilled Red Milk Tea( 奶茶)
I have no regrets ordering their Chilled Red Milk Tea. It’s quite “rich” or “gao” and it’s thirst quenching. As a milk tea drinker, I will put a thumb up for their milk tea.
包今天 Golden Sand Bao
As you can see from their name of this dish, this is the must eat dish when you visit Bao Today (包今天). Okay, this is their signature custard buns and it comes with 2 buns at S$3.00. A notable difference of their custard bun as compared to other dim sum shop is that it’s green in color. The greenery comes with a slight pandan fragrance that elevated the whole mouth taste. If I didn’t have a heavy lunch, I would have ordered 2 servings. Well, let’s reserve it next time I re-visit Bao Today.
Century Egg & Lean Meat Congee In Claypot
The century egg & lean meat congee in clay pot tasted quite normal for me. There’s nothing nothing special & no wow-factor. Note that they didn’t recommend this dish in their menu explicitly though. I have tried better century egg & lean meat congee in Hougang and if there is a chance, I will dedicate a review for it.
Taiwan Braised Rice (台湾卤肉饭)
Fried Roll With Red Bean Paste & Banana
Assorted Meat Bao
This is my favorite dish among all. I highly recommend it. The chicken meat on top is fresh and the pork meat is juicy.
Char Siew Noodle
The serving is quite small but the noodles is Q and the char siew tastes good. It comes with a small bowl of soup.
Steam Chicken Feet
Steamed Scallop Dumplings
I am quite disappointed with this as I thought the whole filling is a scallop. This is like a normal har gow with a small piece of scallop on top.
Steam Pork Ribs
Fresh Shrimp Dumplings
Pretty normal har gow. Tasted just like any other restaurants.
Chicken & Pork Bao
I would say all their Baos are really not bad. Freshly made & juicy meat. There’s a reason why they are called Bao Today.
Pan Fried Carrot Cake
This is another dish that I will highly recommend you to try it out. It’s well fried with crispy skin around the carrot cake.

Summary
Bao Today’s dim sum is pretty decent. The prices of the dishes are quite affordable and reasonable. I will definitely revisit Bao Today and try out their other recommended dishes like the Black Sesame Bao, Kurobuta Bao, Sesame skin chicken bao, Crispy Golden Dumplings and more.
